To become an accountant, people typically study accounting, start at a junior level and build their career over time. This is the same for most careers. From pilots to podiatrists, we study, train, practice and build our expertise.
For leadership roles, it is different. Often people follow a similar path to the one above but instead of just becoming more of an expert in their field they become a Promoted Professional. They are now tasked with stepping out of the work and having responsibility for leading a group of people to do the work instead. The best accountant is suddenly tasked with leading a group of 10 accountants who will be their subordinates. The podiatrist is now leading a team of podiatrists and support staff who they need to work together. A great builder brings on a number of employees, contractors and apprentices who they all call ‘The boss’.
This transition is hard because we don't prepare our future leaders for the 5 Roles of Leadership they now will need to master to become a leader worth following. All the expert knowledge and experience they have built up over
many years is not only less useful in this new job, but it can even be a
major problem. The Promoted Professionals can feel uneasy, threatened or even totally out of their depth at this realisation.

This is not about adding more, it’s about elevating how they think, act and influence. Gaining a clearer sense of leadership identity, the gaps holding back teams and the skills to lead with purpose and confidence.

The Emerging Leader Readiness Program is a transformational experience designed to prepare new and aspiring leaders for the steep transition from doing to leading. Many first-time leaders are promoted for their technical excellence but are suddenly expected to motivate, influence and guide others... but they need these skills.
This bridges that gap. Throughout the program, participants unpack the realities of leadership through experiential learning, storytelling and reflective practice. Each session builds confidence in managing up, influencing across teams and creating psychological safety for others, while strengthening the ability to make sound decisions in complex environments. More than a workshop, this is a readiness journey.
